Care guide
Proper care keeps your prosthesis comfortable and natural-looking. The steps below are general guidance; follow the method shown to you at delivery and your ophthalmologist's advice first.
Appointments and information
Removing with the suction cup
- 01Wash your hands with soap; make sure the suction cup and the prosthesis are clean.
- 02Work in front of a mirror, over a soft surface, so the prosthesis is not scratched if it drops.
- 03Press the suction cup gently onto the centre of the prosthesis so it holds.
- 04Pull the lower eyelid down slightly and ease the prosthesis forward. Do not use force.
- 05Clean the prosthesis and the suction cup and place them in a dry, clean storage case.
Cleaning
- Wash the prosthesis between your fingers with lukewarm water and the mild cleanser recommended to you.
- Do not use alcohol, cologne, acetone or abrasive products; they damage the acrylic surface.
- Dry it with a soft, lint-free cloth.
When to call
- If redness, discharge or pain increases, see your ophthalmologist first.
- If the prosthesis often slips out or feels uncomfortable.
- If you notice scratches, dullness or a change in colour on its surface.
- If you have not come for a check-up in a long time; regular polishing improves comfort.
